Snehana · Oleation therapy
Warm herbal ghee pooled around the eyes — Ayurveda’s therapy for tired, dry eyes.
✓ Prescribed by Dr. Gaurav Sharma after your diagnosis

“Netra” means eyes, and “Basti” means holding or pooling. In Netra Basti, a small ring of dough is placed around your eyes, and warm medicated ghee is poured inside the ring so it rests gently over your closed eyes.
The ghee nourishes and cools the tissues of the eyes. Its gentle warmth relaxes the small muscles around the eyes, while the medicated ghee works on dryness, burning and strain. You lie back with your eyes closed throughout — most people find it deeply restful.
Burning, dry and strained eyes come mainly from increased Pitta (heat) and Vata (dryness) in the eye region. Netra Basti is Ayurveda's classical Snehana — oleation — therapy for the eyes.
Eye drops cool the surface for a few minutes. Netra Basti nourishes the eyes deeply, from the outside in, with warm medicated ghee.
If any of these sound like you, this therapy was made for your problem.
If your eyes feel tired, dry or burning by evening, Netra Basti was made for them.
Netra Basti suits anyone whose eyes are tired, dry or strained — especially people whose work lives on a screen.
It mainly calms Pitta heat and Vata dryness in the eye region.
A typical session lasts 15–20 minutes.
Consultation first. The doctor examines your eyes and decides whether Netra Basti is right for you, and which medicated ghee to use.
Preparation. You lie back comfortably. A dough ring is placed around your eyes.
Ghee is poured. Lukewarm medicated ghee is poured inside the ring. Your eyes stay closed throughout.
Holding time. The ghee rests over your closed eyes for the prescribed time, nourishing and cooling them.
Draining. The ghee is drained away and your eyes are cleaned gently.
Post-care. You rest your eyes and avoid screens and bright light for a while after the session.
Come without eye makeup, and remove contact lenses before the session. Rest your eyes afterwards — no screens for a while.
At Adinath, Netra Basti is prescribed by Dr. Gaurav Sharma after Nadi Pariksha and an examination of your eyes. The medicated ghee is chosen for your condition — not the same ghee for everyone.
Trained therapists carry out the session with care: the ghee is kept lukewarm, never hot, and your eyes stay closed throughout.
Netra Basti is gentle and soothing. The ghee is lukewarm, the therapy is done with eyes closed throughout, and trained therapists carry it out under the doctor's prescription.
Tell the doctor about eye infections, recent eye surgery, or active conjunctivitis before the session.

Netra Basti is for tired, dry, burning and strained eyes. Warm medicated ghee is pooled around the closed eyes inside a dough ring, nourishing and cooling them.
A typical session lasts 15–20 minutes, including preparation and rest.
The doctor decides after examining your eyes. A short course helps recent strain; long-standing dryness needs a longer course, reviewed as your eyes respond.
No — patients find it deeply relaxing. Most people feel the eyes cool and restful during the session.
It is safe when done by trained therapists under the doctor's prescription. Tell the doctor about eye infections, recent eye surgery, or active conjunctivitis.
Rest your eyes. Avoid screens, bright light and rubbing your eyes for a while. The doctor may advise eye drops or rest.
No. The dough ring, the medicated ghee and the sterile technique need trained hands. Ghee in the eyes at home is not safe.
Come without eye makeup and remove contact lenses before the session. Eat a light meal, and avoid rubbing your eyes afterwards.
Vision may feel slightly cloudy for a short while because of the ghee. It clears quickly on its own — just rest your eyes and do not rub them.
No. Remove contact lenses before the session and wait until your eyes feel clear before putting them back.
